Meet the Band!
Steven D. Ferrara
Stephen Ferrara is an accomplished singer, songwriter and guitarist with over thirty years’ experience. Steve received an award for Songwriter of the Year at the 2000 Los Angeles Music Awards. Steve toured with Sam & Dave (yes, that Sam & Dave). The legendary George Clinton of Parliament Funkadelic called Steve one of the “greasiest” guitar players he’d ever heard. Before becoming a Great Dane, Steve was a founding member and tunesmith for the band Wonderland (Sire/Jericho), whose album, "The End of Bliss", was compared to The Who's "Quadrophenia" and Queen's "A Night at the Opera" by Billboard Magazine. Rolling Stone dubbed it " an endless set of singles”. Barry Levinson used the single "Carrie Loves the Dark" in three episodes of his police drama "The Beat".
Jeff Cox
Currently attending the New England Conservatory, Atlanta-born trumpeter Jeff Cox is a student of jazz and is well versed in Rock, Motown, Folk, Hip-hop, and R&B. He also is a professional singer of classical music around Boston. He has opened for Patti LaBelle and John Legend and has studied with a who's-who of New York City and Boston jazz musicians, including Jerry Bergonzi, Ralph Alessi, Cecil McBee, Joe Morris, and John McNeil, and performed regularly at jazz venues around the city.
John Monterisi
Guitar, vocals, songwriter, and musical director of JGD.
John is a founding member of the venerable soul band Hipsocket and has recorded two CDs' worth of original music with The A Team. He plays bluegrass and country with two groups in midcoast Maine. www.monterisimusic.com. He does love his mezcal.
Maria J. Hauser
Vocals. Beautiful vocals.
Jonathan D. Plaut
Jonathan Plaut is a singer, guitar player and songwriter. When JDP is not rocking out, he practices law at the Boston firm Cohan Rasnick Myerson Plaut LLP (www.CRMLLP.com) and at the NY firm Ritholz Levy Fields LLP (www.RLFLLP.com). JDP is a former criminal prosecutor, and currently serves as the Chairman of the Business Law Council of the Massachusetts Bar Association. Most recently, he was selected as a Massachusetts "Superlawyer", an honor given to the top 5% of the lawyers in each state. JDP has played throughout the Northeast (New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey, Maine) including on tours with such luminaries as Michelle Shocked, Vinnie Appice, Carmine Appice and the Hollywood Allstarz on guitar, bass and viola. (And those rumors are true, JDP is the world’s best lover!)
David Morrison
Blues Harp and percussion. Former Blues Harpist for Tammy Wynette and Johnny Paycheck. Check out that belt of different blues harps.
Jeff Garmel
Saxophone. And the dryest sense of humor in the band.
John Cajolet
John is a veteran on the bass, having laid down a solid groove around the clubs of Boston for a number of years. In the 90s he was a member of the original Boston rockers “GUITARZAN”, and now we are super pleased to have John keep JGD super funky.
Lou Serio
Lou Serio is the backbone and the backbeat of the JGD rhythm section. Lou was also a member of the original Boston rockers “GUITARZAN” with John Cajolet. After years of rocking in many bands throughout Boston, we are thrilled to have Lou join our team and keep us steady. His t-shirt says it all.
